DESCRIPTION:  A quite uncommon Mirid Bug that reaches a length of up to 6.2mm. Males are usually macropterous with 2nd antennnal segment less than 1.45x the base of the pronotum.  Females are usually brachypterous and the 2nd antennal segment is less than 1.75x the base of the pronotum. The general colour is blackish with obvious pale yellow markings (the lateral pronotal margins important in the ID process).  The species sports a yellowish collar around the pronotum that gives the species its name (fulvicollis, meaning "yellow-necked"). Females have a relatively wide head. The legs have pale yellow tarsi contrasting against the darker femora and tibiae. DISTRIBUTION: Widely distributed but very scattered and far from common anywhere. HABITAT: Found in heathland (usually damp) and around Salix species. PERIOD: July to September.
